An unknown Chinese artist has been paid £120 by the Dulwich Picture Gallery, South London, to copy an old master in its permanent collection, so it can be hung among its other great works and the public challenged to identify it. Well what a great idea! Visitor receipts are bound to go up. However, I would go further! How about issuing all visitors with three darts each. Yes, you guessed it…find the fake!

And the fake is…Jean-Honore Fragonard’s 18th-century painting ‘Young Woman’.
