metal shopping basket

Oh dear me, since October 5th and the 0.5p charge for plastic carrier bags was introduced, the world of the English shopper has turned upside down! Unwilling to pay the 0.5p per bag charge, several supermarket shoppers have walked off with metal baskets. So many have been stolen from Tesco at the Oldham, Manchester store, the supermarket has been forced to attach security tags to its baskets. Some people have no brains! All you have to do is invest 0.50p and buy 5 ‘robust’ carrier bags that don’t split, and they will last for ages. The larger supermarkets would do well to ‘electrify’ their baskets, and that’s a ‘charge’ that should definitely be passed on to the customer!
