It has just been revealed, the Church of England (assets £7 billion), received £1.41 billion in income in 2013 from its various commercial activities, which is three times as much as Starbuck’s made (UK). MacDonald’s (UK) made £1,37 billion. With this embarrassment of riches, how come the C of E continues to plead poverty, insisting local congregations stump up the cash to pay for church renovations? Clearly someone is as tight as a duck’s ass! Perhaps this reluctance to part with money has something to do with the fact the all-powerful Church Commissioners are mammonites devoted to the acquisition of wealth? Who decided English Christian communities must be self-supporting?
